Cowboy Oriented Web Sites saw a niche within the cattle industry in 1997...
Purebred cattle genetics are being traded world-wide with the advent of Artificial Insemination and Embryo Transfer, making this a global agricultural industry. With that in mind, it was logical that cattle breeding operations would benefit from marketing their genetics on the internet.

With many friends and colleagues involved in the purebred cattle industry, this was a logical market area for us to develop. Our experience with purebred cattle, horses and a touch of international marketing exposure was added to strong design and computer skills. A combination that would hopefully make us an attractive choice for cattlemen and ranchers over our city-based competition in the web design business.

Our vision has evoloved over time, but originally it was to provide a web design company that would cater to the cattle business.

The benefit of cattle breeders having a web site was apparent from our very first customer in 1998, Bar Pipe Farms. Within the first few weeks, Bar Pipe had sold a package of frozen semen as a direct result of a new client visiting their website. Triple S Red Angus had similar experience by selling a package of embryos to Ireland soon after their website was online. Needless to say, it was very encouraging to see the value these operations found from their web sites.

We have been very fortunate to have received tremendous support from our clients. Their "word-of-mouth" promotion alone accounted for most of our business the first few years and continues to do so.

You've come a long way baby...
The "vision", first conceived in 1998, has developed from a fledgling entrepreneurial company, to a busy small business, thanks to the nurturing support and encouragement of many people who have been there since the beginning. Our first trade show was in Red Deer, Alberta at BullFest '99. These days, we attend a few select cattle events with our booth, which allows us to visit with our customers in a central location, and promote our new services. We continue to strengthen, grow and adapt our web site services in reaction to our customers needs. All comments, suggestions and criticisms are seriously considered and changes are made as necessary to ensure we are providing the best possible service value for the dollars spent.

Meet the crew
Rhonda Vergouwen is the founder of Cowboy Oriented Web Sites. A 1988 Olds College Animal Health Technology graduate, Rhonda's experience working and living in the purebred cattle industry lead her to create Cowboy Oriented Web Sites in 1998 as a service to help market cattle genetics internationally via the internet.

In February of 1999, the company incorporated as COWS International Inc. by Rhonda Vergouwen and Sandra Mills. Together they were the sales, marketing, production and support staff! As business demands grew, the staff expanded to include more designers and website programmers. Many talented individuals continue to bring new skills, abilities and diversified background experience to our web design company. As a result we have been able to expand our marketing areas into other industries and other endeavors, but the majority of our work remains in the field of agriculture.
